Black Mirror: Nosedive

Black Mirror is a Netflix original series  that shows the worse possible outcomes of the use our obsessive use of technology. We watched one particular episode called "Nosedive" that was about a world that based ones value off of their ranking. Ranked 1-5, people were forced to create a false persona of themselves in order to receive 5 stars during any human interaction. The main character of this episode became so obsessed with having a high ranking that it caused her ultimate downfall but also opened her eyes to a whole new life of honestly and happiness. This episode, though over exaggerated, showed how much people base their worth on social media popularity and what others think of them and those who didn't care and had "low rankings" were the happiest.

So I recreated the photo with that very thought in mind, though I took a different approach I wanted to keep the concept of a "life partner". I took a picture of my hand and my shadow touching each other because I wanted to create a sense of longing. Some people search all their lives for a soulmate and Lee Friedlander reminds us that we are already born with one. 2.) My second photo was Garry Winogrand's   New York World's Fair, 1964. It was a picture of a group of people interacting naturally. There was A lot of personality and individuality in this picture, so for my recreation I wanted to take a picture of a group of p...
